India’s loss in World Cup 2019 raised a lot of questions on team management decisions, roles of coach and others, team selections etc. The inside stories of dressing room suggested that the Indian cricket team is divided between two camps; one close to the skipper and another allied to the vice-captain. The reports of rifts between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma raised a lot of eyebrows especially after the split captaincy concept broke. Their social media activities came under scanner as well which kind of established the news. But Kohli finally faced the media question on the same and rebuffed all such news.

Captain speaks

The Indian skipper said that discussing personal lives in the professional sector are disrespectful and that too just because of a few negative results. Before flying to West Indies he said, “I’ve been to few public events. Everyone comes up and says we have respect for you. And here we are feeding off lies and overlooking facts. We are turning a blind eye to all the good things that have happened and creating fantasies and scenarios in our heads, and want to accept that this is the truth.”

He also mentioned how everything is okay among the teammates and it is easily readable from his behaviour if he doesn’t happen to like a person. He suggested everyone to focus on Indian cricket to make the future better. “Within the team, it’s there for everyone to see – the friendship and camaraderie. It’s baffling and ridiculous to read such stuff. It’s time we focus on taking Indian cricket forward and not on things that are not even there.”
