On Thursday, Pakistan captain Babar Azam surpassed Virat Kohli to become the all-time leading run-scorer in T20Is. Babar now has 4067 runs from 113 innings, compared to Kohli’s 4038 runs from 110 innings.Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is third in the all-time rankings with 4026 runs from 144 innings, having scored a fifty in India’s tournament opener on Wednesday. The trio will all be in action on Sunday when India faces Pakistan at Nassau County Stadium in New York.
Indian vice-captain Hardik Pandya expressed his excitement about the upcoming clash, emphasizing that the match against Pakistan should be seen as a historic event rather than a confrontation. Pandya, who has performed well against Pakistan in the past, stated, “Standing in big games is very exciting for me. I find it extra special and Pakistan has been one team where I have been very fortunate, I have been able to do well in a lot of games.”
Pandya’s record against Pakistan includes scoring 84 runs and taking 11 wickets in six T20Is, with his best bowling figures being 3/8.
