Washington Freedom, backed by a strong partnership with New South Wales Cricket, will be under the guidance of renowned batting maestro Ricky Ponting. Travis Head, opting to extend his cricket journey in 2024, has decided to join Freedom shortly after Steve Smith joined the team. With no international matches scheduled for Australia post the T20 World Cup until a white-ball tour of England in September, Head saw an opportunity to continue honing his skills in Major League Cricket.

There are some more exciting Australian signings. These additions strengthen the league and bring a wealth of cricketing talent to the competition.

After the match-winning innings in the ODI World Cup, Travis Head earned an IPL contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Since the beginning of the season, Head has been in great form. In his first match of the ongoing IPL season against Mumbai Indians, he scored an excellent half-century and played a knock of 62 runs in just 24 balls.
