As the days for the WT20 championship come closer, the excitement and anxiety for the tournament can be easily seen in all cricket fans worldwide. With this the ICC has started their promotions for the championship, first by announcing the brand ambassador in an electrically charged video.
Usain Bolt is to be the brand ambassador for the tournament. The Jamaican sprinter is widely known across the world for his godly speed and is considered the greatest sprinter of all time.
Bolt has won the Olympic gold medal 8 times for his country, along with 11 World championship gold medals. His main events are the 100m sprint, 200m sprint and the 4×100m relay race.
WT20 to be co-hosted the USA and West indies
The championship starts from June 1 and is to be played until the 29th of the same month. It is scheduled to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America. It will be the first ICC World Cup tournament to feature matches played in the United States, and in any other country other than the West Indies in the Americas.
India has won the tournament for a total of 1 time, that too in 2007. India defeated Pakistan at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.Â
India’s playing XI to be announced soon
While the Indian audience is busy watching IPL 2024, it’s also the selectors for WT20 teams who are doing the same. Depending on their overall performance, and their performance in this season of IPL, the playing XI of several teams is to be decided.
All players are now busy trying their hardest in order to gain the attention of WC selectors who are their only ticket to get a chance to play in the WT20 championship. Several players like Dinesh karthik have already shared their desire to be able to play for the Indian team. Experts are now speculating newcomers like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma might make it to the playing XI.
The Indian team for WCT20 championship is reckoned to be announced in the next week or so.
