Cricket fans in India were buzzing today as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially unveiled the new Team India jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the West Indies and USA starting June 1st.
A Design Steeped in National Pride
The new jersey boasts a striking design that seamlessly blends tradition with modern elements. The front features a dominant blue colour with the word “INDIA” emblazoned proudly in the centre. The V-shaped neckline is adorned with the vibrant colours of the Indian tri-colour, adding a touch of national pride.
The sleeves of the jersey are a bold saffron colour, featuring the iconic three stripes of Adidas, the official kit sponsor of Team India since 2023. This unique colour combination creates a visually appealing contrast and injects a touch of vibrancy into the overall design.
Following ICC Regulations: No Sponsor Logos During World Cups
It’s important to note that as per ICC regulations, sponsor logos are not permitted on jerseys during World Cup tournaments. Therefore, the jersey will not feature the logo of Dream11, the current sponsor of the Indian cricket team.
This new T20 World Cup jersey is an evolution of the blue-coloured jersey that the Indian team has been sporting in the shortest format since Adidas became their kit sponsor. It effectively merges elements of the team’s training and match-day kits, resulting in a unique design that is both stylish and functional.
Team Unveiling and Availability
The official launch video, featuring captain Rohit Sharma and teammates Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, was released on social media platforms by Adidas on Monday. The video showcased the players sporting the new jersey at the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Fans can purchase the jersey online and in stores starting May 7th, 10:00 AM.
