TATA IPL 2023: Josh Little leaves Gujarat Titans camp for ‘National Duty’

The Gujarat Titans have announced that their talented left-arm pacer, Josh Little, will be departing for national duty following their impressive nine-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. In an official statement released by the franchise, it was revealed that Little has been selected to represent Ireland in the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to commence on May 9th.

Having played a pivotal role in Gujarat’s resounding triumph against Rajasthan Royals on Friday, the Irish speedster is set to return home and join his national squad in preparation for the highly-anticipated ODI series. With his impressive performances for the Gujarat Titans, it comes as no surprise that Little has been given the opportunity to represent his country at the highest level.

When will Josh Little be back?

The talented 23-year-old is expected to sit out of at least three IPL matches to join his national squad. As per the franchise’s official statement, the Irish seamer is scheduled to make a return to the Titans squad following the conclusion of the ODI series against Bangladesh, much to the delight of his teammates and fans.

The Gujarat Titans expressed their support for Little and wished him the very best for his national duties. While the team will miss his presence, they are confident that their other talented players will step up to the occasion and continue their winning momentum.

Who can replace Josh Little in the squad?

Vikram Solanki, the Director of Cricket for the Gujarat Titans said, “We wish Josh the best as he heads back to represent Ireland in the ODIs. He has had a good run in his first Tata Indian Premier League and we look forward to welcoming him back once he finishes the ODI series.”

In 8 games this season, the left-arm seamer has impressed everyone with his sheer pace and movement, picking up 6 wickets at an economy rate of 8.21. It is expected that Caribbean pacer Alzarri Joseph, who was earlier benched by the Gujarat Titans team management, is likely to make a comeback in the squad in Little’s absence.
