Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have recently been hit with a blow, as their captain KL Rahul has been forced to withdraw from the remainder of the IPL 2023 season due to an unfortunate injury. However, LSG fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the franchise has found a worthy replacement in the form of Karun Nair. The seasoned 31-year-old batsman will be joining the Super Giants for INR 50 lakh, and is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the team.
A commendable record
Nair has a commendable IPL record, having played in 76 games and scoring 1,496 runs at an impressive strike rate of 127.25, which includes an impressive tally of 10 half-centuries. This would be the sixth IPL franchise for Nair, having played previously for RCB, RR, DC, PBKS, and KKR.
With a staggering 6000 runs under his belt in the domestic circuit, Karun Nair is a force to be reckoned with. The seasoned batsman is all set to make an immediate impact in IPL 2023, determined to showcase his skills on the grandest stage of them all.

In a recent statement, Karun expressed his delight in joining the Lucknow Super Giants squad for the upcoming season. He also extended his well wishes to the team’s injured captain KL Rahul and expressed hope for his speedy recovery.
“Really happy to be joining the Super Giants. I wish KL a speedy recovery and hope he comes back stronger. Look forward to meeting my teammates very soon and contributing to the team.”, Nair said after being named KL Rahul’s replacement.
It goes without saying that Nair’s addition to the LSG squad will provide the team with a much-needed boost in the middle-order batting department.
