India is set to start their campaign against Ireland on Wednesday. Taking to his official Instagram account, Ishan Kishan urged fans to support the team wholeheartedly during the tournament.

“It’s World Cup time again and we must get behind our boys. Good luck to the team and support staff,” Ishan wrote on his Instagram story.

Earlier this year, in February, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the contracts for the 2023-24 season. Notably, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were among the two biggest omissions from the annual player contracts list. Kishan was also left out of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad following a series of underwhelming performances.

Despite the setbacks, Ishan’s message reflects his continued support for the national team. The Indian squad, led by captain Rohit Sharma, is aiming to end their ICC trophy drought, which has persisted since their last win in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. Since then, India has reached several ICC event finals and semifinals but has yet to secure another major trophy.
