India enforced a 5-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka in the ODI series on the back of a 3-0 victory in the Test series. The ODI series brought multiple records for team India and the skipper Virat Kohli. He scored his 30th ODI century and equaled Ricky Ponting’s tally. Now, he is only behind Sachin Tendulkar who has 49 ODI centuries.
The series proved to be a run feast for the modern master who went past 1000 ODI runs in this calendar year and became the first batsman to do so. He now has 1017 runs from 18 matches with an average of 92.45 including 4 centuries and 6 half-centuries.
After Kohli on the list, there is South Africa’s Faf du Plessis with 814 runs followed by England’s Joe Root with 785 runs. Kohli has a huge chance of widening the gap between him and the rest as India are set to play a handful of ODI cricket in the coming months. Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka will feature in ODI series against India this year.
