Stats: Virat Kohli reaches 30 ODI centuries, on par with Ricky Ponting

It was a day to remember for Indian cricket as they enforced a 5-0 whitewash over the neighbors Sri Lanka in the ODI series on the back of a 3-0 clean sweep of the Test series. A flawless performance from the visitors saw the skipper Virat Kohli scoring yet another hundred in a successful run chase.

With the magnificent hundred, Virat Kohli now has 30 centuries in One-Day International cricket. He is now sitting on par with the Australian maestro Ricky Ponting who has an equal number of centuries. The rate at which Kohli has reached the landmark is far better than the former Australian captain. Ponting has 30 career centuries from 375 matches whereas Kohli reached there in just 194 matches.

The pole position is occupied by none other than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar who has 49 ODI centuries to his credit. The Indian skipper has a long way to get anywhere near that but one more century will see him to the 2nd spot. He might get there this year itself India will play ODI series against Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
