Sourav Ganguly Praises Jaiswal and Sarfaraz, Hails Versatility, and Encourages Consistency

Team India showcased a dazzling display in the third Test match against England. Rohit Sharma and Co. defeated the opponent with a massive 434 runs. In that match, youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan played exceptionally well. After watching them play, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly praised them and also talked about Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in the T20 World Cup.

Jaiswal and Sarfaraz’s Performance and Ganguly’s Praise:

After making a debut last year, Yashasvi Jaiswal is ruling the cricket world by his excellence. In the second and third consecutive Test matches, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored two consecutive double-hundreds. In the second innings of the third Test match, he played an unbeaten knock of 214 runs. On the other hand, making his debut in the same match, Sarfaraz scored two consecutive half-centuries.

After watching the excellence of this duo, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly praised them. He said, “Jaiswal is not only a good player, he’s capable of playing all in formats of the game. Sarfaraz has started well. He now has to score in foreign countries. Sarfaraz is a good example for budding cricketers, who must keep in mind that if they score consistently, they will get their chances.”

On ‘Bazball’ and Rohit’s Captaincy in the T20 World Cup:

The visiting team is facing challenges, as their initial lead has turned into a deficit. Ganguly shared his doubts about England’s prospects in the upcoming matches of the series, indicating concern about their performance moving forward.

Sourav Ganguly said, “Bazball is good, but it’s difficult for England to be successful in Indian conditions. I will be surprised if India lose the series. Please remember that India are playing without Virat [Kohli], KL [Rahul]. It’s a young team with many new faces, and yet, England are struggling.”

As England looks to the future, the challenge of reproducing past success in India looms large. Rohit Sharma’s appointment as the captain for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup has received an endorsement from Ganguly. He praised the decision, pointing to Rohit’s outstanding leadership showcased during the 50-over World Cup, indicating confidence in his ability to lead India in the T20 format.

He said, “Rohit Sharma is the right choice as India captain for the T20 World Cup. The way he led the Indian team and won 10 matches in the 50-over World Cup is still fresh in our memory. So, Rohit was the best choice.”
