Australian cricketer Pat Cummins has landed in India to join the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The Sunrisers announced Cummins’ arrival on their social media, welcoming him to Hyderabad.
Cummins, who has not previously captained a T20 team, has been appointed as the skipper of the Sunrisers for this season. He takes over from Aiden Markram, following the team’s failure to reach the playoffs in the previous edition of the tournament.

The 2024 IPL will see Cummins leading a new team and facing a fresh challenge. His appointment as captain comes after a record-breaking auction where he became the first player to cross the INR 20-crore mark, with SRH acquiring him for INR 20.50 crore after a bidding war with several other franchises.
Cummins has been a formidable player in the IPL, having played 42 matches and scored 379 runs at an average of 18.95 and a strike rate of 152.21, including three half-centuries. He has also taken 45 wickets at an economy rate of 8.54. Cummins previously played for the Kolkata Knight Riders before joining the Sunrisers.
The Sunrisers will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 23 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Fans are eager to see how Cummins will perform in his new role as captain and if he can lead the Sunrisers to their second IPL title.
