Sir Alastair Cook’s portrait implemented on the staircase of the home team’s dressing room in the pavilion of Lord’s Cricket Ground

Former England captain Sir Alastair Cook’s portrait was implemented inside the pavilion of the Home of Cricket Lord’s Cricket Ground.

 The portrait is made of stumps and hangs on the Home Dressing Room stairway and sits between former captains Graham Gooch OBE and Sir Andrew Strauss OBE. The portrait is painted by artist Alastair C Adams PPRP. 

The Praise

The portrait was praised by former English Fast bowler Stuart Broad who took to X and wrote “I think it’s really really lovely of the great man.”

Cook who is considered one of the all-time greats of English Cricket was knighted in 2019 

 “It is just weird when you are told you have just to walk and kneel, that you should get so nervous,” Cook said after receiving the honor according to espncricinfo.com.

 “I have played cricket in front of many thousands and done okay but you get just as nervous just walking and kneeling, which is very strange.”

The Performance

The left-hander who made his international debut in 2006 is the highest run scorer for England in Test Cricket. He played his last Test match against India in 2018 at the Oval and ended his career with 12472 runs in the longest format of the game. 

Cook has the record for most centuries by an English batter in Test matches with 33 centuries to his credit. He has also played 161 Test matches for his country which is the most by any player
