Shubman Gill Ends Up Disappointed As GT Loses IPL 2024 Match Against DC

Today’s GT vs DC match at Arun Jaitley Stadium started with GT winning the toss. However it turns out that Shubman Gill‘s Gujrat Titans could only win the toss as the match ended in favour of Delhi Capitals led by Rishabh Pant.

The match had quite a few ups and downs. After the first innings where DC was batting, the match was I’m favour of their team. However, in the middle it seemed as if GT could easily win the match at the pace they were going. Towards the end if the match, it was clear that it’ll get hard for GT to chase a high target.

With this, GT takes the 7th spot at the points table white DC ascends to number 6. Both the teams have now exchanged their previous positions and only time can tell if they get to win the cup or not.

Shubman disappointed over the loss

GT suffered a big blow as skipper Shubman Gill was out cheaply. The skipper had only scored 6 runs in 5 balls before walking back to the pavillion. Holding the microphone at the after match ceremony, the losing captain said:

“I think we played some really good cricket, disappointing to lose in the end, but great character shown by everyone. Great fight till the end and we never thought we were out of the game at any point.”

“ When you’re chasing 224, there’s no point in talking about plans, just go out and score runs. I think impact player has a bit of a role (in making the matches high scoring), even if you lose extra wickets, extra cushion is there for the batters to keep going and it gives the licence for the batters to keep going till the end.” The 6oung player added.

Smallish ground, we gave away extra runs adds Gill

In the same statement, Shubman got into their mistakes in strategy and execution, adding to his statement, he said

“At one stage, we thought we would be able to restrict them to 200-210, but we gave away some extra runs in the last 2-3 overs. But this is a smallish ground, we spoke about the same when we went out to chase. Execution becomes very important, if there’s a set batter or a finisher, you’ll have to execute well. It’s okay if there’s something in the wicket, but on pitches like this, you’ll have to make sure that you execute all your plans perfectly, be it the yorkers or the variations.”
