Shreyas Iyer Smashes a Monster Six Stealing All the Limelight

The World Cup is getting more thrilling as the tournament goes forward. Thrills are coming in any situation. India started their World Cup journey. They won their first match of the tournament thrillingly. That match was unbelievable. In the second innings, India was in the backfoot at the start but because of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul’s power-packed performance, they won the match by six wickets. Even the last match of India was a pure entertainer. Rohit battered with his masterclass. But one more interesting thing about the match was Shreyas Iyer’s big hit out of the park.

The biggest hit:

On October 11, India faced Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Afghanistan batted first and played a decent innings. Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 80 in 88 balls. It was a good innings from the skipper. Afghanistan was 272/8 in 50 overs.

Shreyas Iyer got out on a duck in the first match against Australia. He has faced a lot of criticism after that. But during this match, he looked very calm and composed. In the previous match, he got out by hitting big. In this match when he came for batting, he took more singles and doubles rather than going for a big hit. 

The biggest six happened in the 32 overs. In that over, Mujib Ur Rahman was bowling. In one delivery of his, Shreyas sent the ball past the long-on boundary. The ball was one high, the opponent was thinking it might be an out but it went for a huge six. Just not this one, his innings included one more boundary. He remained unbeaten on 25 runs.

The Fearless Cricket by India:

In that match, India played fearless cricket against Afghanistan. In the start, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Afghan opener Rahmaullah Gurbaz scored 21 in 28 balls. He smashed 3 boundaries and 1 over-boundary. Ibrahim Zardran scored 22 in 28 balls. Skipper Shahidi played a classy innings of 80 runs in 88 balls. Azmatullah Omarzai scored 62 in 69 balls. They ended their innings with 272 runs. 

In the second innings, India gave an amazing start. Rohit Sharma played an excellent innings. He scored 131 runs in 84 balls. He smashed 16 boundaries and 5 over-boundaries. Along with this century, Rohit registered his 7th century in 13th innings. He also broke the record for most sixes previously held by Chris Gayle

Ishan Kishan missed his half-century by 3 runs. He got out on 47. After that, Virat and Shreyas secured India’s innings. Virat played a knock of 55 runs in 56 balls. He smashed 6 boundaries in that match. His inning consisted of some brilliant shots. Shreyas Iyer remained not out on 25 runs. India won the match by 8 wickets.
