After a long delay caused due to heavy downpour, finally the Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders match for IPL 2024 wrapped up at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The match had a super late toss because of heavy rain in the city.

MI won the toss and opted to bowl first against KKR, which holds the top spot at this season’s points table. The match wasn’t of much consequence to either of the teams as both of them have their paths carved, that too in opposite directions.

“Think I manifested this” says Iyer

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer is of the belief that he might have manifested the victory and first entry into playoffs for the team.

KKR has retained the 1st position in the points table, with their total points now upgraded to 18 after the match. Ironically, their opponent team MI was the first team to be ruled out of the run for IPL 2024 playoffs.

“I think I manifested this before the game (on becoming the 1st side to qualify for the playoffs). Nerves were there, boys have been raising their hands and there have been many game-changers and kudos to each and every one of them. I feel whichever team plays the best, they got a great chance to win.” said Shreyas

Iyer’s “gut” went with Varun

Shreyas Iyer in the after match statement also added that he trusted his guts to choose Varun Chakravarthy for bowling in the 4th over.

“I wasn’t thinking about stats or records, the weather wasn’t great but we won the game and that’s what is more important. It’s all about understanding which bowler is doing well on that particular day, I feel both of them bowled well and my gut went with Varun (on bowling the 4th over) at that point and I backed him.” Iyer added.

Varun became the Player Of The Match in today’s clash
