Senior Indian pacer Mohammed Shami criticized the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team for relying heavily on Virat Kohli’s performances following their recent loss to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2024. Shami, known for his candid opinions, highlighted the need for other RCB batters to step up and support Kohli, who played a brilliant century in a losing cause against RR.
Despite Kohli’s outstanding innings, RCB fell short as RR chased down the target comfortably, with Jos Buttler‘s century being the highlight of the match. Shami emphasized that while Kohli has consistently performed well, it is essential for the rest of the team to contribute significantly to avoid overburdening the captain.
Shami said
“Kohli has always performed, whether for the Indian team or RCB. But how can RCB put the entire burden on Kohli’s shoulders? The rest of the batters need to step up,” Shami said in an interview after the match.
RCB’s loss to RR has raised questions about the team’s batting lineup and their reliance on Kohli. With the IPL season progressing, RCB will need to address these issues and find a way to ensure a collective team effort to achieve success in the tournament.
