RR captain, Sanju Samson said, “ Very happy with the win. We were wondering like the wickets we lost. Rovman hit a couple of sixes and that’s when we felt like we were in the game. Some luck also, they also played really well. The quality of spin they had, they bowled really well. This ground suited them. Jos did what he does for us in the last 6-7 years, so happy for him. It (Jos’s knock) should go right on top. Being an opener, if he gets in, no runs are unchaseable. He does something special.”

Today’s Match Glimpse:

In the IPL clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), RR’s skipper Sanju Samson elected to bowl after winning the toss. KKR’s formidable opening duo, Phil Salt and Sunil Narine, faced a stiff challenge from RR’s bowling attack. However, Salt’s innings was cut short in the fourth over by a brilliant catch from Avesh Khan, bowled by himself. Despite the setback, Narine steadied KKR’s ship, guiding them to 56/1 in the powerplay.

As the innings progressed, Narine, along with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, launched a counterattack, taking on RR’s spinners Ashwin and Chahal. RR, on the other hand, soared past the 100-run mark within the first 10 overs. In a remarkable feat, Narine equaled the record for the fastest century by a KKR player, reaching the milestone in just 49 balls. His aggressive innings, including smashing Chahal and Ashwin, saw him score 109 runs off 56 balls before falling to Trent Boult in the 18th over. Despite Narine’s heroics, KKR posted a formidable total of 223/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Jos Buttler played a pivotal role in Rajasthan Royals’ remarkable chase against Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring an unbeaten 107 runs off 60 balls. Despite battling cramps in the last over, Buttler managed to guide RR to victory and equalled the IPL record for the highest successful run chase, a feat they had achieved the previous year. While struggling with cramps, Buttler hit a crucial six off the first ball of the over but had to refuse runs off the next four deliveries.
