Sanju Samson accepts RR has to do some “fine tuning” as they lose IPL 2024 match against DC

The 56th match of IPL 2024 was held between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The two teams locked horns in what seemed like a competition with both of them at the same level.

Delhi Capitals won the match as RR couldn’t work well with the runchase again. The match ended with a margin of 20 runs between the two teams. With this, RR maintains their spot on the points table.

DC scored 53 off the last 3 overs and Rajasthan Royals managed only 20 runs. For the second time in a row, RR failed to chase a target and remain unmoved in the points table. Despite losing both openers inside the powerplay, the Royals managed to stay within range of the required rate and appeared firm favorites to accomplish the chase.

“It was achievable, but these things happen in the IPL.” Says Sanju Samson

Addressing the audience at the post match ceremony, RR captain Sanju Samson made a statement as they lost the match.

Sanju said that the team was doing well, but the DC skippers made it harder for them to control the target runs.

“I think we had it in our hands, it was like 11-12 runs per over, it was achievable, but these things happen in IPL. Yes, we are doing both the things fine, we will like to stick to what the conditions demand, 220 was 10 runs extra to chase, if we had conceded a couple of less boundaries, we would have made it through.” said Sanju.

Samson further applauded DC opener Fraser McGurk for his exceptional batting.

“The DC opener (Fraser McGurk) came out and did what he has done through the tournament, we still came back well.” he added.

“We’ve lost 3 games, all of them have been tight”

Expanding on the team’s mindset at the post match statement, Sanju Samson also added how RR has only lost 3 games in this season of IPL and are now on the second spot at the points table.

“We have lost three games but all those games have been really tight, we have been playing remarkably well, we have to do some fine-tuning and make a comeback, we need to keep the momentum going. Yes and No actually, you have to give credit to someone like Stubbs who batted well against Sandeep, who has been bowling very well in the last 10-11 games, he scored 2-3 sixes extra against my best bowlers who are Yuzi Chahal and Sandeep Sharma. We have lost the game, we have to find out where we lost the game and we need to keep moving.” He added.

RR is headed to the playoffs for the season with the kind of game they’ve played. It is yet to be known which team comes out with the big victory in the tournament.
