Sanjay Manjrekar Shocks with T20 World Cup Squad: Virat Kohli Out, Uncapped Pacers In

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has made some bold choices in his selection of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, omitting Virat Kohli and opting for Krunal Pandya over his brother Hardik Pandya. Manjrekar defended his decision regarding Kohli, citing concerns over his strike rate in the IPL 2024 season, despite being the leading run-scorer.

Manjrekar’s squad includes Rohit Sharma as captain, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, and Krunal Pandya.

In a surprising move, Manjrekar has included two uncapped pacers, Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav, in the squad. Rana, representing Kolkata Knight Riders, has shown his versatility across different phases of the game, while Yadav impressed in his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants, showcasing impressive pace exceeding 160 kmph. Avesh Khan, another promising pacer from IPL 2024, has also found a spot in the squad.

India is placed in a group with Pakistan, Canada, USA, and Ireland in the T20 World Cup, and Manjrekar’s squad reflects his strategy of balancing experience with promising talent.
