Rohit Sharma seen in Nets with MI just after being Excluded from Australia Tour due to Injury

The day BCCI announced Indian national cricket teams for the Australia tour without Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians posted a photo of Rohit Sharma in nets. This most certainly raised a number of eyebrows and threw questions over the clarity of his injury.

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians captain resumed training with the side on Monday. He missed two games of Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2020. Mumbai Indians lost their last match against Rajasthan Royals after beating Chennai Super Kings in the regular captain’s absence. Kieron Pollard led the side in the previous two games when Rohit Sharma was out of the side due to injury. He had suffered the hamstring injury in the match against Kings XI Punjab on October 18 which Mumbai Indians had lost eventually after playing two super-overs. Even the post-match media conference had been attended by Kieron Pollard on that day.

The pictures of Rohit Sharma from Mumbai Indians’ social media platforms made the defending champions fanbase happy. But the photos came just after Sharma being excluded from the Australia tour due to injury. Mumbai Indians are set to play against Royal Challengers Bangalore on October 28.

The BCCI announced India’s teams for the Australia tour and Rohit Sharma was excluded from the entire tour. The reason mentioned by the Indian cricket board in the press release is injury. In fact, the board release said that the injuries of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma are being monitored. “The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma.”

When the pictures of Sharma hitting the net with the IPL side came just after BCCI’s announcement it definitely did not go well with the netizens. It raised a lot of questions over the injury and selection as well. In limited-overs KL Rahul has been given the responsibility of vice-captaincy whereas in the Test team, Ajinkya Rahane will be Virat Kohli’s deputy in Australia.
