Rohit Sharma Could Replace Virat Kohli As Limited-Overs Captain: Report

Post India’s massacre at World Cup 2019 there has been a lot of talks about the issues Indian team is facing. The team management, selection procedure, coaching and captaincy- lots of things have been raised in the last few days. Indian cricket team in all likelihood is about to go through a change after this unexpected result.

The board certainly wants to go deep and find out what lacked in the entire framework. In the same line, BCCI is keen to think about the idea of split captaincy. They are keen to make Rohit Sharma the limited-overs captain and Virat Kohli the test captain for the Indian cricket team. That way they want to focus on the next campaign. According to a BCCI source, “This would be the right time for Rohit to take over the mantle of the captaincy in the 50-over format. There has been immense support to the present captain and the management and it is time to plan ahead for the next World Cup and for that the existing ideas and plans need a fresh look. We all know some areas need a relook. Rohit would be the right man for the job.”

The biggest talks that have been round about the dressing room is that existence of different camps. There is an apparently clear division of camps in the team in terms of Kohli and Rohit supporters. This is obviously something Indian cricket cannot afford to face. According to the duntionary, there will be a review meeting so that everyone can have a clear idea and plan ac accordingly. He said to IANS, “You are aware that Vinod Rai (CoA chief) has already mentioned that a review meeting will take place. This will have to be ascertained when the review takes place and it is important to get to the bottom of these rumours.”
