Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced a major upheaval in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 when captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja. However, after a string of defeats, Jadeja returned the responsibility to Dhoni.
Jadeja puts an end to all rumors
Rumors of a rift between CSK and Jadeja began to circulate, suggesting that Jadeja would part ways with the franchise. Even in this season, there were reports of controversy between Jadeja and Dhoni, but with the IPL 2023 trophy in hand, Jadeja took to social media to share a photo with Dhoni, captioning it in a way that would put an end to any dispute between them.
In the season finale against the Gujarat Rat Titans, CSK needed 10 runs off the last two balls, with Ravindra Jadeja on strike. Jadeja smashed a six followed by a boundary, sealing the victory and completing CSK’s fifth IPL title. Dhoni had lifted Jadeja in celebration after the victory. As Dhoni went up to the stage to collect the trophy, he took Ambati Rayudu and Jadeja along with him. Not only that, he asked Jadeja to lift the trophy as well. After the match, Jadeja also stated that this title was for a special member of their team, MS Dhoni.

Ravindra Jadeja shared three pictures on his Twitter account with a caption that read, “We did it for ONE and ONLY “MS DHONI. mahi bhai aapke liye toh kuch bhi” In the match, Jadeja played a cameo of 15 runs off 6 balls. The Gujarat Rat Titans had scored 214 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Due to rain, CSK had a target of 171 runs in 15 overs. They needed 13 runs in the final over, but could only manage three runs off the first four balls.
Ravindra Jadeja showcased his remarkable batting prowess by hitting Mohit Sharma for a six and a four off the last two balls of the game. His heroic innings ensured that CSK emerged victorious and clinched their fifth IPL title. With this triumph, CSK now shares the record for the most trophies won in the tournament, tying with the Mumbai Indians, who have also secured five titles.
