Ravi Shastri has quashed the rumours of the conflict between Kohli and Rohit

The rumour of the conflict between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has been quashed by the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri. The coach termed it ‘absolutely nonsense’ in a recent interview after having a successful tour in West Indies.

The story

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the captain and the deputy combination have led India to numerous victories. But after the shocking exit of Indian team from the World Cup 2019, a lot has been talked about the team selection, dressing room equation, and relationship between these two. The rumours of drift between two batting legend of an Indian cricket team has disturbed the fans and experts. Their social media activities were monitored, the idea of split captaincy started doing the rounds. But now Shastri, the newly appointed head coach of Indian cricket team rubbished all such talks in a recent interview.

What the coach and captain think

Shastri told Gulf News that he knows the dressing room more than anyone else after being there for the last five years. He insisted that there is no truth to the news making headlines. “Listen, I have been around the dressing room for the last five years. I have seen how the boys have played and how they have complemented the team and know their work ethics. I feel it is absolute nonsense.” He further added, “I have been there with them and I know the way they play. If that was the case why would Rohit get five hundreds in the World Cup? Why would Virat do what he is doing? How would they have partnerships together?”

Even captain Kohli during the press meeting before the West Indies tour rubbished all such claims by media. He said everyone is overlooking the positive things and busy “creating fantasies and scenarios in our head”. Kohli said, “In my opinion it’s baffling to be honest. It’s absolutely ridiculous to read such stuff that comes out. I have been to a few public events and the sentiment is ‘aap log kya khele (you guys played so well)’,” Kohli said.
