Ravi Shastri Applauds Mohammad Shami’s Remarkable Dismissal in India vs Australia 1st ODI

In a thrilling encounter between India and Australia in the 1st ODI, former India head coach Ravi Shastri took to social media to single out a remarkable dismissal by Mohammad Shami. Shami’s exceptional performance during the match, which included a career-best figure of 5/51, drew praise from Shastri and the cricketing community.

During the match at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Shami provided India with a crucial early breakthrough by dismissing Mitchell Marsh in the fourth ball of the innings. However, it was his dismissal of Steve Smith that caught the attention of Ravi Shastri.

Smith’s dismissal occurred during Shami’s second spell in the 22nd over. Despite the ball being more than 20 overs old, it continued to move significantly. Smith, who had successfully dealt with the previous deliveries, was left astounded as the ball sharply turned after taking the inside edge, crashing into the leg stump.

Ravi Shastri, known for his passion for the game, couldn’t contain his excitement and posted a blockbuster reaction on social media. His post quickly went viral as he praised Shami, saying, “Shami ji. Kya ball dala hai Smith ko (Shami, what a delivery that was to Smith). #INDvsAUS #MohaliODI.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also joined in on the praise, acknowledging Shami’s exceptional performance. They highlighted Shami’s dismissal of Marcus Stoinis in the 47th over, where he bowled a fuller delivery that kept low, resulting in the batter’s stumps being shattered.

Shami’s performance in the match was nothing short of outstanding. He not only provided the early breakthrough but also excelled in the death overs, where he claimed crucial wickets. In the 49th over, Shami dismissed Matthew Short and Sean Abbott in quick succession, securing his five-wicket haul.

With this remarkable performance, Shami became the third Indian pacer to achieve a fifer in an ODI match against Australia, following in the footsteps of Kapil Dev and Ajit Agarkar. He also became the first Indian pacer to record a five-wicket haul in India since 2007, a testament to his skill and dedication.
