Rahul Dravid Backs Suryakumar Yadav With His Inconsistent Form in ODI Cricket, Says “He is Learning”

The Indian cricket team has great options and young talents when it comes to choosing players, no matter what format. It incorporates a wide range of young players as well as senior and experienced cricketers. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 has just started, with the second match being held today. The host country, India, will play its opening match on October 8 against five-time World Cup champions Australia.

At this moment, especially for a tournament as large as the World Cup, it assumes great importance to choose players who are in good form and worthy of providing a boost to the team. One such cricketer whose selection in the Indian squad has raised a few eyebrows is Suryakumar Yadav.

Dravid braces Surya ahead of his selection

The highest-ranked batsman in T20Is, Suryakumar Yadav, registered three successive ducks against Australia in the ODI series that was held in March. His constant struggles to make it through the ODI format have been quite ordinary. Surya has not been able to score double digits lately in any ODI game and has only 30+ in total.

Despite Surya’s inconsistent form in the ODI format, Indian Head Coach Rahul Dravid backed the former and said that the team management has complete faith in him. He elaborated, “Yes, we know we have at the moment seen it in T20 cricket, but we know the kind of impact a player like him can make. He can change the course of a game, and we completely back him. “There is total clarity on the fact that we are completely behind him.

Rahul: He has the skills

Rahul Dravid further went on and asserted that he is still learning a few things. The head coach added, “Suryakumar Yadav is always a very good player; he is working on a few things; he is learning a few things; we have told him about finding other ways of scoring than his general route in T20Is; he is in good space in terms of skills.”

Ahead of star batter Shubhman Gill’s news of being infected with dengue this morning, the Indian side may have to struggle a bit with their opening players in the match against Australia. In these conditions, Suryakumar Yadav is expected to have great potential for the team.
