Purple Cap Holder of IPL 2023: Updated After CSK vs SRH Match 29

Sir Jadeja gives SRH batters nightmares

In a rather one-sided game, Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the pick of the bowlers for the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. Jadeja managed to get the important wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, and Mayank Agarwal. His stint also included a heated argument with the SRH wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen.

Jadeja eventually finished the game with figures of 3 for 22 from 4 overs. His spell made sure that SRH never recovered from the constant fall of wickets, as they eventually managed just 134 runs in their 20 overs. Jadeja now has 9 wickets in 6 games, at an economy rate of 6.76. He has now occupied the 7th spot in the Purple Cap list, just below his teammate Tushar Deshpande, who has been able to hold onto his position despite being wicketless in today’s game. However, the Purple Cap is still held by RCB’s star pacer Mohammed Siraj, who has scaled 12 victims in 6 games.

Markande continues to impress

Despite Sunrisers Hyderabad losing the game, a positive that came for them from the match was the performance of Mayank Markande. SRH have been having a rather jumpy season, but Mayank Markande has been the only constant the team could rely on. Having played just 4 games for the franchise, Markande has already added 8 scalps to his name at a meager economy rate of 6.75.

Markande ended the game with figures of 2 for 23 in 4 overs and was the only wicket-taker for the Sunrisers in today’s game. He has now found himself back in the top 10, as he occupies the 10th spot in the Orange Cap list.
