PBKS vs RCB Match 27: Faf du Plessis injured, will only play as an impact batter

In a crucial encounter between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Punjab Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Faf du Plessis has been injured and Virat Kohli has once again taken charge as the captain of RCB. The match was eagerly anticipated by cricket fans across the world, and Kohli’s return to the captaincy role only added to the excitement.

Why is Faf du Plessis not captaining RCB today?

Ahead of the match, Kohli revealed that Faf du Plessis, who had some injury concerns in the last game, would not be taking the field in today’s game. However, he would still be playing as an impact player and would be batting in the middle order. Vyshak, who had impressed in the previous two games with his bowling, would be switching with Faf and taking his place in the field.

“Faf potentially can’t be fielding today, so he’ll be playing as a impact player, switching with Vyshak. We got to do what we wanted, we would have batted first, the pitch could get slow, some scruff marks will help the bowlers going deep into the game. Taking one game at a time, focussing on our own game, make the most of crunch situations, we haven’t done that so far in the tournament. No other changes for us.”, Kohli said at the time of the toss.

However, as has been with Virat Kohli on multiple occasions previously, the toss once again did not fall in his favor. Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Punjab Cricket Association in Mohali. However, with Kohli back in the captaincy role, RCB will be hoping to put up a strong performance and post a challenging total on the board. The team has a solid batting line-up, with the likes of Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Dinesh Karthik, and Glenn Maxwell, all capable of scoring big runs.
