Pat Cummins aims for aggressive start with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024

Newly-appointed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins is eager to see his team make an aggressive start in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Cummins, who was acquired for a whopping ₹20.50 crore by SRH during last year’s player auction, has replaced South African Aiden Markram as the team’s captain.

Pat Cummins said

In a video posted by SRH on their social media account, Cummins expressed his excitement for the season ahead, saying, “A bit of planning to go and then just want to get off to a really good start. T20s are hard. Kolkata’s a good team, but I just want to see a really aggressive start to the season.”

SRH will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign with a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Cummins’ former team, at the Eden Gardens on March 23. The Australian pacer emphasized the importance of working closely with the players and coaching staff to achieve the best results during the tournament.

“The plans are, you know, I work really closely with the guys that I don’t know too well…get to know them. Get to know what they need from me out in the middle. And then work with coaches and what they want to see out of me as well as a player,” Cummins added.

With a blend of youth and experience in the SRH squad, Cummins is optimistic about the team’s prospects. “I think we’ve got a great mix. We’ve got a couple more experienced guys like Bhuvi. Obviously, Aiden Markram was captain last year. But we’ve got some exciting young talent. I’m super excited to see guys like Abhishek, Umran Malik, these guys I’ve only seen a little bit of but super excited. So, I think fans should be pretty pumped for the season ahead,” he said.

Cummins, who led Australia to triumphs in the World Test Championship, the Ashes, and the World Cup last year, is looking forward to making an impact with SRH in IPL 2024. His leadership and performance on the field will be key as SRH aims for a successful campaign in the upcoming season.
