Pakistan to tour New Zealand in 2024

Pakistan will tour New Zealand for a white-ball series in 2024, following their tour of Australia. According to sources, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) made the offer in May 2023, which Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) accepted.

The planned series might include five T20Is or three ODIs. Both cricket boards are in discussions to finalise the series calendar, which will take place after Pakistan’s tour of Australia concludes on January 7, 2024.

When will the series start?

According to a Geo News source, the series might start in the second week of January because New Zealand has a free window before its home series against South Africa in February. Notably, Pakistan last visited New Zealand for a T20I tri-series in October 2022, prior of the T20 World Cup, when they won by five wickets over the hosts.

In recent years, the two countries have played a lot of cricket against each other, with New Zealand touring Pakistan thrice. The Kiwis first visited the country in December 2022 for a Test and ODI series, and then again in April for a T20I and ODI s.

The two-match Test series in December ended 0-0, while the tourists won the one-day internationals 2-1. On the other side, this year’s five-match T20I series was tied 2-2 after one of the matches in Rawalpindi was rained out, while Pakistan won the ODI series 4-1 last month.

Notably, because to a security notice from its government, New Zealand cancelled their tour of Pakistan in September 2021 just a few hours before the toss. The Kiwis had toured the country for three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021, but abruptly cancelled the tour before the scheduled start of the first ODI in Rawalpindi, shocking the cricketing world. Since then, though, Australia, England, and New Zealand have had successful tours in the country in 2022-23.
