Rohit Sharma recently became the leading six-hitter in Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) during the second game of the three-match series against the West Indies in Florida on Sunday. On Wednesday Rohit took to Twitter and posted a photo with Chris Gayle.

The Prelude

In the process, Rohit surpassed the ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle’s record. Gayle has 105 sixes in the shortest format of the game whereas now Rohit has 107 sixes. When the two sides met for the first time in the series, Rohit needed four sixes to break Gayle’s record during his knock of 24 in the opening game, Rohit managed to accumulate two sixes. Then Sunday’s fixture saw him ending as the highest run-getter for his team with 67 off 51. He hit another three maximums to his tally to add this new record to his name. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill is in the third in the list with 103 sixes. Sharma didn’t play in the last and final Twenty 20 match of the series that India won to complete a 3-0 victory.

The Story

Rohit on the day before the ODI series kicks off posted a photo on Twitter with Chris Gayle. The picture shows both wearing jersey number 45 of their respective teams. The photo was posted without any captain as such and just mentioned Chris Gayle. This certainly clearly hints at the record Rohit owns now after crossing Gayle.

Chris Gayle missed the T20I series because of his contract with Global Canada T20. Now he will be seen playing in the One Day International series and this will be his last venture in the 50-format game for West Indies. Just prior to the ODI series, this frame does heat up the ambiance. After missing the last T20I even Rohit will start freshly in the ODI series and healthy competition can be expected between both.
