Umran Malik excelled in the IPL in 2022 because of his ability to bowl quickly and provide a threat to the batsmen. Even though Umran used to bowl with errant lines and lengths occasionally, his incredible speed usually covered them.
Malik played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2022 and took 22 wickets at an average of 20.18 and a strike rate of 13.40. Umran has taken more wickets than any other Indian pacer, which speaks highly of the bowler.
However, Umran Malik’s performance in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) hasn’t been outstanding; he hasn’t taken many wickets and has given up too many runs in the majority of the games. The bad ones were going to the boundary more frequently this time around because his pace was slower than it was in the previous season.
Umran Malik was consequently dropped by Sunrisers Hyderabad after playing just seven games, during which he managed to take just five wickets. Umran hasn’t been seen for the Orange army since he was left out last month.
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram made a shocking statement on the Indian speedster. Ian Bishop enquired about Umran Malik’s place in the SRH team hierarchy from captain Aiden Markram. Aiden offered Bishop a perplexing response as he appeared uneasy with the question.
“Not too sure, to be honest. Certainly, he’s a player with the X factor and bowls at 150kph, but I don’t really what’s about behind the scenes, but he has a lot of X factor,” Markram said at the toss.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been ill-treating the players since the last few seasons. They removed their biggest superstar David Warner unceremoniously. He was the soul of the SRH team. SRH have too many legends which are spoiling their decision making process.
Tom Moody who was the former coach of the SRH franchise recently said, “In some franchises, it’s a very simple process, where the captain and the coach, and maybe someone in cricket operations or even another senior player will come up with what they feel is the best team. And there’s other teams, where there’s a lot of cooks in the kitchen. I think that applies in this situation we are talking about the Sunrisers. There’s clearly a lot of cooks in the kitchen, and we don’t know who the leader is… Who’s got the tallest chef’s hat!”
This is quite evident with the SRH team as they are at the bottom of the points table with just 8 points in 13 matches. They will have to make a serious makeover of their support staff in the next season.
