No Shreyas Iyer is for today’s game, here is the why

Today India is playing their last fixture against Bangladesh before the final game against Sri Lanka. Team management has made five changes. Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah are on rest in the match. Suryakumar Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Shami, and Shardul Thakur are named in the playing XI. Young batter Tilak Verma is making his debut on this big stage. But the noise has been raised by asking why Shreyas Iyer is not in the playing XI.

At the time of the toss Skipper Rohit Sharma has revealed why Iyer is not playing Today’s match. A few days back, Shreyas was concerned with a back spasm. Despite that, he was out of the India vs. Pakistan game. Keeping the World Cup in mind, the BCCI medical team advised him to not play even in the India Sri Lanka Match. He was not even traveling with the team that day. Doctors advised him to take a rest in the hotel. Yesterday he was practicing with the team for today’s clash but he is not named in today’s playing XI.

Injury setback:

Earlier this year, Iyer sustained a back injury in March against Australia in the home series. After that injury, he was advised to go under the knife. After the back surgery, Iyer was in rehab at NCA in Bangalore for months. During this Asia Cup Shreyas made a comeback. Everyone was hoping to see the fiery Iyer back in the tournament. but during the warm-up session of the Ind vs. Pak clash, Iyer suffered from a back spasm, which caused a mini setback for him.

In the practice session before today’s clash, I was sweating much to be back in the action. After some warm up he headed to the net session. Along with some underarm throwdown he faced some fast bowling action discomfort was seen in his action.

BCCI medical team keeps eying on him. After the back spasm, doctors advised him to take rest. The World Cup is around the corner. Shreyas is the most dependable batter in the number 4 position. To make that place intact BCCI is not taking any risk with him. Despite being a mini concern he is getting scrutinized by the BCCI medical team.
