Matthew Hayden Picks India’s 15-Member Squad for ODI World Cup, Leaves Out Kuldeep and Chahal

Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the special edition of the ODI World Cup, which will be exclusively hosted by India for the first time. The tournament is set to begin on October 5 with defending champions England facing New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Amidst the preparations, Australian cricket legend Matthew Hayden shared his insights on how India’s 15-member squad should shape up as they aim to secure their third World Cup victory. A two-time ODI World Cup winner himself, Hayden excluded wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav from his predicted squad.

In Hayden’s proposed squad for the World Cup, the wrist spinners were omitted. Instead, all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel were chosen as spinners. The squad included three wicketkeepers – Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and KL Rahul. Specialist batters selected were Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav.

Among the pacers, Hayden included Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur. ODI vice-captain Hardik Pandya was listed as the seam-bowling all-rounder.

India’s World Cup journey will commence on October 8 when they face five-time champions Australia in Chennai.
