“Look At How He Approached The Game”, Says Kapil Dev About Babar Azam Amidst All The Hatred He Has Been Receiving As a Captain

There is no doubt that the Pakistan Team is one of those teams which has shown consistency in every championship since the last decade. But unfortunately this time, Babar’s men failed to impress the fans as it came down to a dismal showdown recently in the ongoing 2023 Cricket World Cup. Though it started on an advantageous note winning the first two matches quite exceptional, it faced continuous defeats in the next 4 matches it played, dismantling it’s positioning in the ICC Rankings Table.

It managed to win only four out of the nine matches it played in the tournament and finished 5th on the Points Table to come after the likes of India, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. Despite a terrible performance, the team’s efforts to be able to make it to the top 5 is truly commendable.

The criticism faced by Babar Azam

After Pakistan’s disqualification to make it to the semi-finals, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been facing severe outroar for his conduct throughout the marquee event. Literally all the former cricketers and fans have been coming upon him to criticise him, assuming that he didn’t lead the team properly.

Kapil Dev defending Babar

Ahead of these contradictions, former Indian and legendary cricketer did the task of defending the Pakistani skipper remarking that under his captaincy, the team became the No.1 ranked team in ODI cricket and that people should not criticise him before knowing the whole situation.

Kapil remarked “Today you will say Babar is not performing well because you are seeing the current situation. But the same captain made Pakistan the number-one team six months back. When someone makes zero, 99% of people will say drop him and will back an ordinary player who scores a century saying, he is the next superstar. So don’t go on current performances. Look at how he has approached the game, how he plays in tough situations is how a player should be judged rather than one or two low scores.”
