Kohli and Richards find nets ‘claustrophobic’

Virat Kohli finds nets claustrophobic. After playing numerous international matches the Indian captain sais that he likes to practice on a centre wicket. With fielders around the field, it provides him with a real-time match replication.

Great players think alike

During a chat with the West indies legend, Vivian Richards that is posted on the Indian cricket board’s official website Kohli is seen sharing information about his idea to the game. He asked for the opinion of the great on net practice like, “I felt like this many times where the pitches are fast and bouncy, or even in the nets when you are playing, I am sure you wouldn’t go to the practice just randomly practising.”

To which Richard replied that he finds net uncomfortable and claustrophobic. Kohli just echoed the emotions and said, “I think exactly the same things about net practice how it can be claustrophobic and I prefer having a centre wicket net which is open against our bowlers with fielders so that I have a match simulation.”

Anushka is Kohli’s biggest blessing

The second episode of the two-part conversation also threw light on the married life of the Indian skipper. Richards said that Kohli is playing a lot better now and hinted on his equation and relationship with his wife. “Some guys relish knowing that the person they enjoy being with for the rest of their lives, in the environment and doing what you are doing now, man. Some guys wouldn’t have done as much. But it looks like you are really appreciating both sides of the coin.”

The skipper agreed to the same and explained Anuska as the biggest blessing in his life. He also said how her understanding of Kohli’s space helps him. “Because she is a professional herself, she totally understands my space. She guides me in the right direction. The thing that I have learned from us being together is that if you are willing to do things which are right in your life, off the field, and doing the difficult things and standing by them, I think that creates your personality to go on the field and do the same thing.”
