KKR Fan Gets Emotional, Tearfully Dedicates Song To Mentor Gautam Gambhir

Ahead of the 60th match for IPL 2024 at Eden Gardens Stadium, between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, the two teams are busy practicing hard and showing their best performance at the game.

While KKR is currently leading the points table with 16 points under their belt, MI is falling behind at the 9th position out of 10 with 8 points in their portfolio.

In the meantime, during a fan meet-and-greet session, the atmosphere turned emotional as a fan tearfully requested Gautam Gambhir to never leave the team again.

Bengali fan dedicates song to Gambhir

The fandom for this ex-captain of KKR is passionate to say the least. With his impressive performance on the field, genius strategies while and before playing, and unapologetic nature, Gambhir has amassed a plethora of dedicated fans.

At the fan meet up for KKR, one such fan showed up and expressed his emotions. It is safe to say that the love for Gambhir is enough to make a grown man cry.

The seemingly middle-aged man cried while requesting Gautam to never leave the franchise again as he did before. He further dedicated Bengali song “Hrid Majhare Rakhbo” which roughly translates to “I’ll keep you in my heart”.

“I’m one of your biggest fans, In just want to say, please done leave us (KKR fans) anymore..you leaving (the franchise) has brought a lot of hurt to us and we can’t explain it in words.”

Using song lyrics to express his feelings,“I would like to explain it with the help of some lyrics of a Bengali song.. ‘I’ll keep you in my heart. I won’t let you leave. Leaving you would mean I’ll neber be able to feel (God’s) golden touch’ ..you are our heart, we help u in our hearts please don’t hurt us by leaving anymore.” said the fan in a now viral video from the meet and greet.

Gambhir’s return changes KKR’s fortunes

Gautam Gambhir has returned to KKR after several years, and how. The former captain for KKR had won both the 2 trophies that KKR boasts of, one in 2012 and the second in 2014.

Gambhir was a part of KKR from 2011 till 2017, after which he left the franchise and they could not muster up another win in a season. The much-loved cricketer and ex-politician has now returned to KKR, as their mentor.

Ever since, KKR’s fortunes seem to have changed for the better. Through tactical developments, such as promoting West Indies cricketer Sunil Narine as an opening batsman and bringing in Phil Salt as Jason Roy’s replacement, Gautam’s ideas have done wonders for the franchise.

The Narine-Salt partnership has not only proven to be a consistent one, but has also taken a lot of pressure off of the middle order batsmen.

Now KKR holds the top spot at the points table having 16 points and with eight wins in 11 matches as well as a net run-rate of +1.453.
