“Keep believing, that was the real key today.” Jos Buttler Opens Up After Winning Player of the Match Award

The spectators of Eden Gardens experienced a thrilling match. The excitement was there till the last ball. But Rajasthan clinched the victory. Jos Buttler nailed the game for the Royals with an exceptional unbeaten century knock at a very crucial point. Because of that outstanding performance, he was awarded the Player of the March Award. After the match, he opened up about his feelings.

Buttler’s Amazing Knock and His Feelings:

After batting outstandingly in the first innings, Kolkata Knight Riders set a target of 224 runs against Rajasthan Royals. The target was not that easy to chase but Jos Buttler made it happen. On a crucial point, when the team was losing wickets frequently, Buttler stood tall and fought hard. He scored a century and remained unbeaten on 107 runs in just 60 balls including 9 boundaries and 6 over-boundaries.

After securing the team’s win, he has been awarded the Player of the Match Award. After receiving the awards, he opened up. He said, “Keep believing, that was the real key today. I was struggling a bit for rhythm. At times you feel frustrated or you are questioning yourself.

Later he added, “I tell myself it’s okay, keep going, you’ll get your rhythm back and try to stay calm. There’s been plenty of times throughout the IPL, you’ve seen crazy things happen. Guys like Dhoni and Kohli, the way they stay till the end and keep believing and I tried to do the same.”

Praising Sangakkara and View on His Innings:

Behind Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara is a big support. His cricket excellence has always helped the team. After that great knock, Buttler credited him. He said, “That’s something Sangakkara has told me a lot – there’s always a breaking point. The worse thing you can do is to not fight and give your wicket away. He just tells me to stay there and at some point, the momentum will change. That’s been a big part of my play over the last few years.”

That innings was nothing less than a dream. While talking about it, Buttler said, “(Greatest IPL innings?) I would think so. Very satisfying.” With that win, Rajasthan is standing on the top of the table with 12 points. They are aiming for the biggest target this time.
