Kapil Dev Shares His Insight On KulCha

Former Indian captain Kapil Dev gave the reasons of the KulCha of Indian cricket not being named in the squad together. Meanwhile, India had a terrible ODI series after a 5-0 win in T20I against New Zealand.

Why KulCha not named together

KulCha meaning Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are two prime spinners of the current Indian cricket team. But the team hardly take them together in the playing XI. In the first game of ODI series against New Zealand, Virat Kohli went with Yadav who proved to be a second-costliest bowler. He was then replaced with Chahal in the second fixture who took three wickets. No wonder he booked a spot in the finale.

India’s first World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev shared his thoughts on why the spin duo don’t take chance together in the team. Kapil thinks that playing two specialist spinners means weakening the batting department. He explained, “If you play two specialist spinners then it weakens your batting a bit. Having said that, batting really shouldn’t be a problem for India but when need arises Jadeja can do the job with the bat and his form of late has been terrific.”

Kapil impressed with Jadeja

In the same programme on ABP News Kapil shared his thoughts of Ravindra Jadeja as well. Jadeja plays in the team as an all-rounder in the limited-overs. Hardik Pandya who has been away from the team for some time due to his lower-back injury that he picked during last World Cup 2019. The absence of Pandya is a huge reason for Indian playing Jadeja in the limited-overs. Kapil seemed to be very impressed with Jadeja when he said that Jadeja’s batting and fielding cover his bowling flaws. “Jadeja’s batting and fielding is so good that if sometimes he doesn’t succeed with the ball that goes unnoticed. That’s where he scores better than the other spinners.”
