Jasprit Bumrah Injured, ruled out of Test Series against South Africa

A big blow for Indian cricket team as their main bowler Jasprit Bumrah injured and ruled out of Test series against South Africa. Umesh Yadav has been called as Bumrah’s replacement in the team.

Injured Bumrah Ruled Out

The Board of Control for Cricket in India said in an official statement on the board website that, Team India fast bowler Mr. Jasprit Bumrah has sustained a minor stress fracture in his lower back and has been ruled out of the upcoming Paytm Freedom Series for Gandhi-Mandela Trophy against South Africa.”

According to the release, the injury was detected during a routine radiological screening. So Bumrah He will now have to undergo rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He will be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team throughout. Bumrah who has taken 62 wickets in 12 Test matches has yet to play a Test at home. This injury makes the wait longer for the speedstar.

Umesh replaces Bumrah

The board informed that the All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umesh Yadav as Bumrah’s replacement. Yadav will be seen featuring in three upcoming Test matches against the Proteas in place of the ace paceman Bumrah. He last played a Test in Perth 2018 when India toured Australia. The match saw him bagging two wickets in the first innings. Then he remained wicketless in the second innings. In 41 Tests so far, Umesh has scalped 119 wickets at an averaging of 33.47.

The Test series will begin on October 2. The first match is scheduled for Vizag, followed by two more Tests in Pune and Ranchi. While Bumrah’s blow is a headache for the team management, Yadav will look forward to making the best of this opportunity.
