Irfan Pathan Makes A Colossal Prediction About Rohit Sharma If Team India Under His Captaincy Gets To Win The Upcoming Test Series In South Africa

Delving from the records of past wins and loses, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan commemorated Team India captain Rohit Sharma as a great opener and the one under whose captaincy, India can win the upcoming 2-match Test Series in the land of South Africa. Rohit Sharma has been instrumental both as an opener and a captain since the inception of the 2023 World Cup and even before. But the way he captained Team India in the marquee event has got him on the list of India’s most selfless and hardworking captains.

Pathan’s monumental predictions

In a discussion with Star Sports, Irfan Pathan stated that Rohit will be considered as one of the greatest cricketers if India wins the series against the Proteas this time. This is because India has never won a Test series on the land of South Africa in the past years. Irfan remarked “If Rohit Sharma is able to conquer South Africa, his name will be kept top-most in India’s cricket history as captain and player because he only has the key to wins in both these matches. He is both an opener and a captain. If you play out the new ball, your other batters will get the chance to shine. That’s why you should remove the shine from the new ball.”

Past wins of SA against IND

Across the eight Test tours India and South Africa have played so far against each other. India won its first Test Series in 2006 under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy, followed by a tied up series in 2010-2011 when all the three matches couldn’t take place. In the following years, namely 2018 and 2022, India managed to win a Test match and could not take over the series.

After a much hectic campaign in the 2023 World Cup, Rohit Sharma is to still recover from the loss of not being able to win the 2023 World Cup trophy as everyone knew what the trophy meant to Rohit. If he guides India to win the Test series against the Proteas, he will be for sure considered as one of the greatest captains and cricketers.
