Irfan Pathan Drops KL Rahul, Ruturaj Gaikwad And Dinesh Karthik From His Imaginary WT20 Playing XI

As the T20 World Cup 2024 is approaching, the team lineup for the tournament is expected to be announced in the next 7 days or so.

This gives the players in IPL 2024, very less time to show their skills and impress the BCCI selection panel led by Ajit Agarkar.

The T20 WC is scheduled to be held in the USA and West Indies starting on June 1. The players are to finish up with IPL 2024 before moving towards the next tournament.

Pathan drops these players out of the squad

The former all-rounder, Irfan Pathan has finalised the squad he feels is the most ideal and suited to represent India at the global event. His choives were mostly expected but they also included a couple of surprise omissions.

Pathan gave his stamp of approval to Yashasvi Jaiswal to be Rohit Sharma‘s partner, followed by Virat Kohli at No. 3 and Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4.

As for Shubman Gill, while Pathan did not leave him out of the squad, he picked the Gujarat Titans captain as a back-up opener.

However, the former player closed his doors to Dinesh Karthik, Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul from joining the squad.

Dinesh Karthik had mentioned his willingness to play in WT20

Talking about his wish to play at the T20 WC, Karthik said, “At this stage in my life, it would be the greatest feeling for me to represent India.”

“ I’m very, very keen to do so. There is nothing bigger in my life other than representing India in this T20 World Cup,” he added.
