Gaikwad Says Some CSK Members Have The Flu “Weren’t even sure till the morning who’s playing or not” Ahead Of CSKvsPBKS

Chennai Super Kings won today’s IPL 2024 match against Punjab Kings at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

The toss came out in favor of PBKS, and their captain Sam Curran opted to bowl first. As the wicket was slow, CSK managed to score only 167 runs in 20 overs. The match worked out in favor of CSK as they won by 28 runs.

Here’s what Ruturaj Gaikwad said

Addressing CSK fans and audience after the match, the newly appointed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad said that the team had initially aimed to score around 180-200. The slow pitch didn’t let them achieve that, however they were very close to their end goal.

“Everyone believed the wicket was slow. Even low bounce. Just that the start we got, we were thinking of pushing till 180-200. After losing wickets, thought 160-170 was a good score. Don’t know what he’s doing, but even in preseason he was clicking 150kph (on Simarjeet). He didn’t get too much chances, but it’s never too late. Were thinking of going with impact batter, but then we thought the batter will give 10-15 runs, but he could give 2-3 wickets.”

Speaking about the health issues of his teammates, Gaikwad added,

“Some of the guys were struggling with flu. Weren’t even sure till the morning who’s playing or not. To get the win, really happy with that.”
