In an interesting twist, the two sides had previously met in a Test in 2019, where Afghanistan emerged victorious, securing their inaugural Test win against Ireland. The recent encounter at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi marked a turning point for Ireland. Afghanistan met Ireland at the Tolerance Oval for the only scheduled Test match. After winning the toss, Afghanistan decided to bat first. While opening the innings for Afghanistan, Ibrahim Zadran scored an excellent half-century. He scored 53 runs in 83 balls. Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 20 runs in 44 balls with 4 boundaries. They got all out in 155 runs.
Ireland’s response was fueled by solid performances from various batsmen, notably led by Paul Stirling. They posted a total of 263 runs in their first innings, securing a crucial 108-run lead over Afghanistan.
