After day 2 of IPL 2019, the defending champions Chennai Super Kings find themselves on the second spot on the points table. They had inflicted a one-sided victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening game. CSK’s 7 wicket win has boosted their net run rate to 0.519 while RCB is languishing at number 7 with the same tally in negative.
Kolkata Knight Riders are placed at No.3 with a run rate of 0.255. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first game of the day. Batting first, SRH scored 181 on the back of 85 from the returning David Warner. The visitors were in a winning position until the 17th over when 53 runs were required. But Andre Russell smashed 49 from just 19 balls that snatched the victory from the opposition.
The second game of day 2 saw Mumbai Indians taking on Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium. DC scored a huge 213/6 courtesy of Rishabh Pant who scored 78 from just 27 balls. MI fell short by 37 runs and as a result, their net run rate dropped to -1.85. DC, on the other hand, rose to the top of the table.
