The defending champions Chennai Super Kings have returned to the top of the points table for IPL 2019. Their clinical victory over Delhi Capitals in the 5th game of the season was their second win on the trot. CSK now has 4 points with a net run rate of 0.495.
The Shreyas Iyer-led side scored 147/6 after batting first. Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 51 runs while Dwayne Bravo bagged 3 wickets. CSK’s chase was aided by Shane Watson’s quickfire 44 at the top. MS Dhoni’s 32 then guided the chase as the visitors won by 6 wickets.
DC, that was earlier, at the top has slipped to No.2 after their loss to CSK. They still have the best net run rate of 0.782 amongst all the teams. The massive victory over Mumbai Indians has aided them to maintain a healthy run rate.
Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders are the other two teams who have opened their accounts. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians are yet to win a game.
