The ground crew moved quickly to cover the center with two layers of protective sheets, ensuring that the surface and the sections where fast bowlers warm up remained shielded.
With rains pouring down heavily and scattered thunderstorms, the match was finally canceled. The rain gave some hope in the meantime as it slowed down a tad, but it again poured heavily damaging the outfield.

However, there is still hope for the match to take place tomorrow. According to the rules, if the rain does not allow the match to take place, it will happen on the ‘reserve’ day which is the day after the original final date.
The IPL final may be played on the day that has been designated as the reserve day if rain or other bad weather prevents it from taking place on the scheduled day.
Who will be crowned as the champions if the rain continues tomorrow?
The team that finished first in the league round would be crowned the victor if bad weather also impacted or completely wiped out the reserve day. The Gujarat Titans, who are the defending league winners, took the lead after winning 10 of their first 14 games to earn a commendable 20 points. With 17 points, the Chennai Super Kings secured the second spot, paving the way for a fierce duel between the two teams.
