IPL 2020: Ryan Harris Joins DC as Bowling Coach

Ryan Harris is the newly added name to the Delhi Capitals coaching team ahead of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. Former Australian fast bowler said that his target would be to contribute to the side’s target of lifting the IPL 2020 trophy.

Lats year Delhi Daredevils got a new name and the team was revamped for the betterment. The change saw Sourav Ganguly being appointed as the new advisor of the side. The change brought good luck and the effect was shown in the IPL 2019. Now just ahead of the IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals added a new coaching member to the team. Former Australian fast bowler Ryan Harris replaced James Hopes as the bowling coach of the side who had been originally appointed in the role but gave the tournament a miss citing personal reasons.

The 40-year-old has previously served Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League and Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League. Ryan Harris was also seen playing in the IPL when he represented Deccan Chargers side that won the 2009 edition of the IPL. He then moved to Kings XI Punjab in 2011 and played till 2013. After retiring majorly due to injuries he went on to replace Venkatesh Prasad as bowling coach at Kings XI in 2019. As per the national side of Australia is concerned Ryan Harris had a short stay as he could play only 51 international fixtures.

Ryan Harris will be soon joining the Delhi support squad for IPL 2020 which has fellow Australian and the head coach of DC Ricky Ponting, assistant coach Mohammad Kaif, spin-bowling coach Samuel Badree and others. Harris said, “I am delighted to be back in the IPL.”

Speaking on his association with the Delhi Capitals, he said, “This is a huge opportunity for me to contribute to the franchise’s ambitions of lifting the coveted IPL trophy. The Delhi Capitals side has an impressive bowling line up, and I can’t wait to start working with them all.”
