IPL 2020: Is Sunil Narine in for KKR vs RCB Match Today

While Russell seems to be fit for the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the situation is not yet settled for Kolkata Knight Riders. Sunil Narine, their overseas all-rounder was reported for suspected bowling action in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. So Narine’s chance of featuring in today’s game between KKR and RCB looks doubtful.

IPL 2020 RCB vs KKR: Will Andre Russell Play Today?

KKR release statement on Narine

Sunil Narine was reported according to IPL’s suspected illegal bowling action policy by the on-field match officials after KKR’s last match against Kings XI Punjab. Kolkata Knight Riders today released a statement on the same. However, they have not made it clear whether Narine would play against RCB today or not. “This came as a surprise to the franchise and Mr. Narine, considering he has played over 115 games in the IPL since 2012 and as many as 68 games since 2015, when he was last reported during the IPL season for a suspect action before being subsequently cleared completely by SRASSC, an ICC accredited facility.”

The release also added, “Furthermore, he was playing his 6th game this season, with no concerns expressed formally or informally by the match officials so far. Having said this, we are respectful of the process that the IPL has put in place to have his action reviewed, and are working closely with the IPL in this matter. We are hopeful that there would be an appropriate resolution quickly. We appreciate the cooperation being extended by the IPL in expediting this matter.”

What’s next?

IPL’s official statement after the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab had mentioned, “Mr Narine will be placed on the Warning List and is permitted to continue to bowl in the tournament. Another report will result in Mr. Narine being suspended from bowling in the Dream11 IPL 2020 until cleared by the BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee.”

Now in this situation whether Kolkata Knight Riders would like to go ahead with Narine or not that would be interesting to see. In case, they do not take chance with Narine further, what should be the replacement?
