IPL 2020: Here’s the Reason Why Chris Gayle is not Playing Today Against Kolkata Knight Riders

Yet again Kings XI Punjab are on the field without the Universe Boss. Even after continuous demands, Gayle has not made it to the playing XI. However, nothing has been spoken about the same officially.

Cottrell out

Kings XI Punjab are busy playing their 7th match of the season. After five losses in six matches, it is high time for the Punjab based franchise to make a strong comeback if they want to be in the race of IPL 2020. Kings XI Punjab are presently at the bottom of the IPL 2020 points table and fans are definitely not happy about it. It has been a while that all have started to talk about including Chris Gayle in the set-up. Especially after the continuous failure of Glenn Maxwell, the absence of Chris Gayle has been more evident.

KL Rahul, after the toss today mentioned Gayle but did not speak about the reason he is not playing. Rahul said, “We have a lot of experience like Anil, Andy and Jonty. We have Gayle and Maxi and seniors who have kept it positive. We just haven’t turned it around in the big moments that’s why we are at the bottom of the table. Jordan comes in for Cottrell, who has a niggle and might miss out on a couple of games.”

Here is why Chris Gayle not playing today against KKR

Although there is no clarification made so far about the current situation, reportedly Gayle was set to play the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad days ago. “Gayle was going to play today, but he is down with food poisoning,” Kumble revealed after the match. In all likelihood, Gayle is yet to recover which is probably why Chris Jordan has replaced Sheldon Cottrell for today’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mayank Agarwal also mentioned about Gayle earlier, “Gayle is an integral part of KXIP whether playing or mentoring. He has been speaking to all of us, contributing in the batters’ meeting and also sharing stuff which is crucial.”
